WEEK 11
Czech breakfast
I have researched what is a traditional Czech breakfast and found out that Czech people usually have coffee, tea or milk with bread or rohliky, and on top of it butter and jam. They could also have a slice of cheese or salami on the bread. In the past there used to be a second breakfast at around 10:00 AM which consisted of a hearty soup or a piece of sausage with bread.
WEEK 10
At Daybreak
Adam Zagajewski
From the train window at daybreak,
I saw empty cities sleeping,
sprawled defenselessly on their backs
like great beasts.
Through the vast squares, only my thoughts
and a biting wind wandered;
linen flags fainted on towers,
birds started to wake in the trees,
and in the thick pelts of the parks
stray cats' eyes gleamed.
The shy light of morning, eternal
debutante, was reflected in shop windows.
Carousels, finally possessing themselves, spun
like prayer wheels on their invisible fulcrums;
gardens fumed like Warsaw's smoldering ruins.
The first van hadn't arrived yet
at the brown slaughterhouse wall.
Cities at daybreak are no one's,
and have no names.
And I, too, have no name,
dawn, the stars growing pale,
the train picking up speed.

The Man with a Movie Camera
Dziga Vertov
1929
The movie Living Russia or The Man with a Movie Camera is a documentary of a day in Soviet Union, a documentary of filming of said documentary and a depiction of an audience watching the film all at once. At watching I was particularly aware of documenting a day in Soviet Union, especially the morning part. I was watching what parts of the city are covered and in what way. I got some new ideas and inspiration from the movie.
